INaturalist is an application with two major features: educating users and preventing the installation of IAS.
The user sees a species he doesn't know, he takes a picture of it, the interface shows him the species sheet. He learns.
If by chance this species is an IAS, he can then send a report via the application to inform researchers of his find. This updates the database and avoids the installation of IAS.
INaturalist already has artificial intelligence, notably with its image recognition and management program.
This allows it to analyze the image taken by the user, to find similar images in its database, and to propose the corresponding identity card. The App then performs pattern identification and classification.
The geolocation of the application is also a well-developed function, which allows not only to geolocate users via their smartphone, but also to identify all IAS in the world. The App then performs data generation.
We can therefore conclude that the application is based on supervised learning, with image and text manipulation.
Artificial intelligence provides users with a fast and organized experience. They feel important and valued thanks to the "mission" part they are allocated, and learn new things.
Whether it is the identification pattern, classification, generation or geolocation, all these features make the Application one of the most complete and appreciated on the theme of biodiversity.
